The KVOE-National Teachers Hall of Fame Radio Auction is taking the airwaves Thursday night.
This is the 28th annual auction to benefit the Hall of Fame, which has now inducted 140 of America’s best teachers. Hall of Fame Director Carol Strickland says inductees are getting more and more involved in the auction the past few years.
Auction items are online at KVOE.com and www.nthf.org. Printed lists are available at KVOE, the Hall of Fame office at Emporia State’s Visser Hall Room 115, both Emporia State Federal Credit Union branches, the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce, Emporia Main Street and the Memorial Union information desk.
The auction funds part of the Hall’s induction activities in Washington, DC, in May, as well as the formal inductions in Emporia in June. The event typically generates between $13,000 and $17,000, and Strickland says an anonymous donor has pledged a $2,500 check if the auction raises $17,500.
The auction starts at 6:05 pm from Emporia State Federal Credit Union’s Industrial Road branch and will air on 14 KVOE, 96.9 FM, KVOE-TV at KVOE.com and ValuNet FIBER channel 3. To bid, call or text KVOE at 620-342-5863 with the auction item number and your bid amount.
