Two Polycarts met their demise after a small fire near the Emporia State University campus early Tuesday morning.
Originally, a brush fire was reported at 1111 Market shortly after 1:30 am but fire crews discovered the fire was in the Polycarts instead. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage says both caught fire after careless disposal of barbecue briquettes.
Damage was limited to the Polycarts. No injuries were reported.
