Jessica Wayne finished with a triple double to lead the Emporia State womens basketball team to a 60-52 win over Washburn Friday night.
The two teams struggled to score in the 1st quarter with Emporia State leading 9-8 after the first 10 minutes. Emporia State started to warm up in the 2nd quarter. Washburn rallied in the 3rd quarter to cut a 14 point Emporia State lead to just 1 point going to the 4th quarter. The Lady Hornets used a 20-8 run to put the game out of reach. The biggest lead for Emporia State was by 14 points. The biggest lead for Washburn was by 3 points. There were 5 lead changes and 4 ties in the game.
Jessica Wayne after missing her first 4 shots was 4-4 in the 2nd quarter and would finish with 18 points. She also grabbed a game high 11 rebounds and had a school record 11 steals. It was the first triple double in 18 years for a Lady Hornet.
Mollie Mounsey finished with 10 points.

The Lady Hornets improved to 5-2 for the season. They will open MIAA play December 5th when they host Nebraska Kearney.
