A number of soldiers overseas will have a brighter holiday season, thanks to donations collected over the past few weeks by Emporia Main Street.
Main Street has been collecting a range of items, including undershirts, socks and phone cards. Director Casey Woods says area residents understand what it means to truly support soldiers and veterans.
Woods also says the holidays can be tough for soldiers overseas, so “little touches from home mean a lot” to them.
Care packages will go to Kansas-based soldiers in Afghanistan and Kuwait. You can still donate, but the deadline is now 10 am Monday. Click here for more donation information.
