The Emporia State basketball teams picked wins over Fort Hays State Saturday.
The womens game featured 5 ties and 7 lead changes Emporia State used a 9-0 run in the 4th quarter to earn a 73-69 win over number 5 ranked Fort Hays State. Emporia State Coach Toby Wynn called it a big win.
Tre’Zure Jobe led the Lady Hornets with 25 points.
Mollie Mounsey added 12 points.
The Emporia State women are now 7-2 for the season and 2-0 in the MIAA. They will close out their pre christmas schedule December 16th when they host Bethany.
The mens game featured 5 ties and 4 lead changes. The biggest lead for Emporia State was by 11 points in the first half. The biggest lead for Fort Hays State was by 7 in the 2nd half. Coach Craig Doty was happy they found a way to win the game 69-66 .
Jumah’Ri Turner led Emporia State with 18 points. Brenden Van Dyke added 11 points and had 3 blocked shots.
Keyon Thomas finished with 10 points. The Hornets with the win improve to 7-3 for the season and 2-0 in MIAA play. They are off until January 1st when they play Baker.
