The Lyon County Highway Department has reopened part of a road just south of Emporia after a morning of repairs.
Road 150 between Roads J and K was closed for part of Monday as crews handled a cornerstone dig. The process took about four hours to complete.
In separate construction news, the Kansas Turnpike Authority has awarded a contract for a bridge redecking and widening project between the Emporia gate and the Admire-Council Grove exit. A.M. Cohron and Son of Atlantic, Iowa, won the project at mile marker 143.1, 16 miles northeast of Emporia, with a roughly $2.6 million bid. Work gets underway this month and could take a year to complete.
