He was a two-term Emporia city commissioner, mayor and the owner of a successful auto body shop. She was a realtor and the owner of an antique mall. They lived in Emporia since getting married in 1957. Now Floyd and Terry McCracken have passed away within 10 days of each other.
Terry McCracken passed away Nov. 30 at age 78, while Floyd McCracken died Monday at age 82.
Ray Toso served with Floyd McCracken on the City Commission. He calls McCracken diligent in city matters and in business.
Terry Carley was born in Moline, while Floyd McCracken hailed originally from Olivet. Floyd McCracken started Floyd’s Autobody in 1968 and ran it until retiring in 2005. He was a past state president of the Automotive Service Council. Terry McCracken was a member of the Emporia Board of Realtors and Kansas Association of Realtors.
They are survived by two children, four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter among other relatives.
Funeral services have taken place for Terry McCracken and she has been interred at Bushong Cemetery. Visitation for Floyd McCracken will be from 7-8 pm Thursday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett. Funeral will be 10 am Friday, also at Roberts-Blue-Barnett, with burial following at Bushong Cemetery. Memorial funds can be sent to the Emporia Alzheimer’s Group, Emporia Friends of the Zoo or Buck Animal Fund in care of the funeral home.
