The Emporia High basketball teams open Centennial League play Tuesday night at Washburn Rural.
The Lady Spartans will be facing the defending 6A State champions. The Jr Blues are also ranked 8th in 6A. Emporia High Girls Coach Carolyn Dorsey says Rural is gritty.
The boys game will be a match up of two ranked teams. Emporia High is ranked 10th in 5A. Washburn Rural is ranked 10th in 6A. Emporia High boys Coach Beau Welch says they will need to be solid defensively.
Game times at Washburn Rural are 6pm for the girls and 7:30 for the boys.
Both games will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
The featured area games on Country 101.7FM has Olpe hosting Madison.
The Olpe girls are ranked number 2 in 1A. Olpe Coach Jesse Nelson says he is pleased with the start to the season.
The Madison boys are ranked 7th in 1A. Madison Coach Brett Dannels says he likes the make up of this years team.
Game times at Olpe High School are 6pm for the girls and 7:30 for the boys.
