Formal charges have been filed against two juvenile males in connection to a string of shots fired calls in Emporia earlier this month.
The juveniles have not been named, but Lyon County Attorney Marc Goodman tells KVOE News they are both charged with burglary of a dwelling with intent to steal a firearm. Both were originally arrested Monday on suspicion of burglary, shooting into an occupied dwelling and criminal use of a weapon. The police report, the juvenile equivalent to the court affidavit in adult cases, is sealed.
Meanwhile, charges are pending against three adults, also arrested Monday:
*Christopher Diaz, age 21 of Emporia, arrested on suspicion of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession
*Elijah Rowley, age 21 of Emporia, arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of paraphernalia
*Jesse Baker, age 18 of Emporia, arrested on suspicion of marijuana and paraphernalia possession
The arrests follow confirmed incidents of shots fired into occupied homes at 1101 Congress and 531 East Logan on Dec. 6 and 901 Mary on Dec. 8 — as well as a nearly-two-week investigation that developed afterward and continues at this time. Besides the arrests, the investigation has yielded the seizure of five firearms, including an AK-47 rifle and 12-gauge shotgun, and over 1.5 pounds of marijuana.
Emporia Police have not said whether other houses were shot at or hit earlier this month.
