Two major fundraisers, both benefiting the work of SOS, are making great progress this holiday season.
SOS Director Connie Cahoone recently joined KVOE’s Talk of Emporia where she updated the organization’s ongoing Stronger Together Capital Campaign.
The campaign is helping SOS with the purchase and remodel of a new building in the Emporia area which will allow SOS to consolidate all of its programs and services under one roof. Cahoone says this is desperately needed as each of their programs are spread out across the community making them difficult to locate for some.
Cahoone says this has created some barriers between their services and the individuals who need them.
In addition to the ongoing campaign, the annual Kari’s Christmas for Kids will be coming to an end on Monday with one lucky individual walking away with a 1-carat vintage style ring set in 14-carat white gold valued at $6,000 courtesy of Kari’s. Each year the fundraiser allows individuals to enter a special drawing for a chance to win the stylish one of a kind piece of jewelry with all proceeds benefiting children served by SOS.
Cahoone says the money from the drawing helps provide for a number of needs including Christmas gifts for all the children they serve during the holidays. Cahoone says the funds also help to provide for other needs on a yearly basis such as food, diapers for small children and other necessities.
Kari’s Diamonds owner Kari Stookey says while the annual fundraiser takes place in the holiday season, she is very aware the need is not one that ends once Christmas has come and gone.
The drawing will take place Monday at noon. You can still enter for a chance to win the diamond ring at Kari’s Diamonds.
A donation of $5 gives you one chance to win while a donation of $20 gives you five chances. Also, if you would like to donate to the SOS Stronger Together Campaign you may send donations to Stronger Together at PO Box 1191, Emporia, KS, 66801.
