(esu) Emporia State baseball Coach Seth Wheeler has announced the signing of 8 players for the 2020-21 school year.There are 3 high school players and 5 junior college transfers.
Junior College signees:
Dylan Werries SS Butler CC/McPherson HS McPherson, Kan.
Werries had a .450 on base percentage in Jayhawk Conference games for the Grizzlies as a freshman. He hit .476 with 20 walks in 22 games for a 1.428 OPS as a senior at McPherson HS.
Chandler Bloomer C Barton CC/Ottawa HS Ottawa, Kan.
Bloomer threw out six base runners while playing in 44 of 59 games for the Cougars as a freshman. He was a first-team All-State catcher in Class 4A for Ottawa HS.
Charlie Peyla 3B Barton CC/Junction City HS Junction City, Kan.
Peyla led Barton CC with six home runs and 41 RBI in 48 games as a freshman. He previously played for Wheeler with the Junction City Brigade wood bat league.
Malachi Crone RHP Garden City CC/Austin Royals Home School Round Rock, Texas
Crone went 6-2 overall with a 3-1 record and 2.68 ERA in conference games for Garden City CC as a freshman. He was 4-1 with a 1.81 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 46.1 innings as a senior for Austin Royals Home School.
Austin Neal LHP Cowley CC/Kingfisher HS Kingfisher, Okla.
Neal had seven strikeouts in 7.2 innings of relief as a freshman for Cowley CC. He was 7-0 with a 1.01 ERA as a senior at Kingfisher HS and had a career record of 14-2 with 155 strikeouts in 103.1 innings pitched.
High School signees:
Will Rosenow RHP Clay Center HS Clay Center, Kan.
Rosenow had a 1.42 ERA and struckout 59 in 29.2 innings as a junior in 2019 for Clay Center HS. In his first three years on the Tigers varsity he has 146 strikeouts in 91.0 innings and 1.62 career ERA.
Tanner Martin RHP Blue Springs HS Blue Springs, Mo.
Martin was named the Kansas City Spectrum Sports/HyVee Athlete of the Week for Blue Springs HS as a junior after getting a double, home run and seven RBI in three innings against Lompoc (Calif.) Cabrillo HS and 7.0 shutout innings in a win over Blue Valley (Kan.) Southwest HS last April.
Beau Grable UTL St. James Academy HS Bonner Springs, Kan.
Grable is a switch hitter that played infield, outfield and pitched for St. James Academy. He had a .343 on base percentage in nine games as a junior.
