A Christmas Eve wreck near Burlington killed one man and hurt two others.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the wreck happened on Lynx Road just south of Burlington shortly before 3:30 pm. The driver, 24-year-old Edward Hosford of Waverly, was southbound and lost control of his pickup for currently unknown reasons. The truck skidded sideways before leaving the road. It hit the edge of a nearby ditch, went airborne and then hit a fence before rolling several times.
A passenger, 58-year-old Roy Coleman of Burlington, was dead at the scene. Hosford suffered suspected serious injuries and was taken to Stormont-Vail in Topeka for treatment. A second passenger, 49-year-old Gerald Hall of Burlington, went to Coffey County Hospital with suspected minor injuries.
None of the men in the truck had their seatbelts on when the crash happened.
