Emporia Fire investigators say electrical issues led to a house fire Christmas Eve.
Battalion Chief Bill Harmon says issues developed in or near a crawl space near the kitchen at 502 Whildin, and the fire apparently got into a nearby wall before it was put out. Harmon says the fire was actually pretty small, but firefighters had to do a lot of work to find the source of the fire.
The house was a rental. Resident names have not been announced, but they got out safely along with their pets.
