Two Emporians suffered apparently minor injuries but were still transported for medical care after a New Year’s Day crash in northeast Butler County.
The wreck happened about three miles southwest of the Kansas Turnpike’s Cassoday exit and almost 40 miles southwest of Emporia shortly after 12:15 pm. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 64-year-old Kevin Sechler apparently suffered an unspecified medical condition while driving. Hi SUV left the highway, went through a nearby fence and hit two trees before stopping.
Both Sechler and a passenger, 63-year-old Christina Sechler, were taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita following the crash. Both were wearing their seatbelts when the crash happened.
