SOS has gained a third set of notable grants in the second half of 2019.
Recently, Governor Laura Kelly announced SOS gained over $572,000 as part of the Federal Victims of Crime Act’s Victim Assistance grant program. The funds in this program are generated by federal fines, penalties, forfeited court appearances and bail bonds. They then provide services to crime vicims and survivors, including crisis intervention, legal support, criminal justice assistance, safety planning, mental health, helpline counseling and transitional housing.
SOS is among 65 Kansas organizations splitting over $20 million as part of this program.
In August, SOS received two sets of grants. It received $125,000 in grant funding from the Kansas Attorney General’s Office for CASA volunteers, visitation and exchange services, position funding and public awareness. That grant came a few days after SOS received $300,000 from the state for domestic violence and sexual assault programs as well as the Child Advocacy Center.
