Emporia Police officers and Lyon County deputies had a slow New Year’s Eve night and early New Year’s Day morning.
The Lyon County Emergency Communications Center reports one fireworks complaint between 10 pm and 4 am. No other notable criminal activity, including DUIs, were reported.
Emporia Fire, meanwhile, was called to two separate structure fire reports that were both false alarms.
Wednesday marks the end of special traffic enforcement efforts by the Emporia Police Department, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and numerous other jurisdictions — both across the KVOE listening area and across Kansas as a whole. Those efforts began Dec. 26. Final numbers may not be released until Thursday at the earliest.
