Forty teachers in an eight-county area, including four in Lyon and Osage counties, will be receiving special supplies this week.
The supplies come from the Sunflower Association of Realtors. CEO Linda Briden says this Secret Santa project is an effort she and her fellow association members are proud of.
Association members contact district administrators and asked for lists of first-year K-6 teachers. They then send the teachers letters asking for the top five items they wanted for their classrooms and reasons why those things would help students.
The project has been in place since 2013. Teachers at Riverside, Walnut, Timmerman and Osage City elementary schools are among those receiving supplies.
