Two Emporians were involved in an injury accident in Johnson County which sent an Olathe woman to the hospital just before midnight Friday.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol 25-year-old Xu Li of Emporia was traveling northbound in a 2013 Chevrolet passenger car at I-35 at milepost 207 south of Gardner Rd. Li then attempted to change lanes and rear-ended a northbound 2009 Volkswagen driven by 53-year-old Lori Hernandez of Olathe.
The Volkswagen then left the roadway and became “submerged in water” while the Chevrolet came to a stop in the median. Li and a passenger, 55-year-old Zou T Wang also of Emporia, were not hurt.
Hernandez was taken to Olathe Medical Center with possible injuries.
