KVOE’s latest Tech Talk with Flint Hills Technical College President Dean Hollenbeck focused on workforce development, notably the relationship between the college and the Kansas Board of Regents’ Workforce Development department.
Regents Workforce Development Vice President Scott Smathers says colleges have to stay on top of technology and business partnerships as they try to prepare students for the work world.
College President Dean Hollenbeck agrees.
Smathers oversees several federal grants like the Carl Perkins program, as well as state grants, GED and high school equivalency and concurrent high school and two-year higher education programs. He credited Hollenbeck and tech college staff for their work in adapting to technology, expanding business partnerships across Kansas and developing so-called soft skills as part of the student curriculum.
Tech Talk airs the second Tuesday of every month on KVOE and KVOE.com. Programs are also stored in the KVOE.com Audio Vault.
