Lyon County senior centers will be receiving $63,500 in allocations for 2020 following approval by Lyon County Commissioners Thursday morning.
The annual allocations remain virtually the same from 2019, minus an additional $500 for the Olpe Senior Center to have additional cash reserves on hand. The only major change to the allocation process this year was in the manner they were requested according to Lyon County Controller Dan Williams.
In years past the allocations were decided by the Director of the Department of Aging. The Department was replaced by the North Central Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging in late 2018 and each of the senior centers instead made their allocation requests for this year directly to the Lyon County Commissioners who then had final approval of said allocations.
The full breakdown of allocations are as follows:
Americus: 3,780
Emporia: $34,650
Hartford: $1,260
Neosho Rapids: $3,780
N. Lyon County: $6,930
Olpe: $4,280
Williams also presented the county’s annual contract with Silverson Security and the K-WORC 2020 work comp. premium of $155,946 for approval. All three items were approved 3-0.
In other business, commissioners also approved a resolution for the posting of weight limits on five county bridges, a request for the pouring of a concrete approach at 2587 Road L and three purchases for vehicles from Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods. Additionally, approval was given for the purchases of a SCAG V-Ride mower and a SCAG Turf Tiger II mower for the Lyon County Facilities Department for a cost of $,6,099 and $12,589 respectively.
Commissioners will reconvene for their weekly action session next Thursday at 9 am inside the commission chambers at the Lyon County Courthouse.
