With Flint Hills Community Health Center potentially ending 2019 in the black for the first time, health center officials are looking forward to what’s to come this year.
Flint Hills Community Health Center CEO Renee Hively joined KVOE’s Talk of Emporia Friday to share some of what may be seen very soon. One of the exciting developments for the health center actually is occurring at the state level after Governor Laura Kelly announced a bipartisan step to expand Medicaid to around 150,000 Kansans within the next year.
Hively says this not only would allow around 1,400 of their local patients to be insured, but it could also potentially provide the health center with an additional source of income.
The current timeline will see the Medicaid expansion effort take effect on Jan. 2021.
Hively also shared some details on the Health Center’s search for a new permanent Medical Clinic Director. Hively did not give out many specifics other than to say they were close to signing a contract with a new Director with said contract reflecting the contract of former Director James Fast who retired in mid-December.
In other developments, the Health Center’s new website is up and running and is more mobile-friendly providing a more convenient and efficient service to their clients.
