Discussions regarding a contribution to the Ignite Emporia Campaign will be one of many agenda items before city commissioners Wednesday.
Representatives of Ignite Emporia made the original request for a $30,000 contribution from the city back in late November with the item being tabled for a later time. Last week the Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas made the recommendation for the city to “strongly consider” approving the contribution.
The contribution, if approved, would be a one-time donation to the campaign at this time, however, city commissioners have stated they plan to assess the results of the program at which time discussions on more long term involvement could take place.
Additionally, commissioners will discuss an upcoming roof project for the Emporia Public Library and review the city’s street rehab project list. Discussions regarding city commissioners appointed to city boards will also take place.
The meeting begins at 11 am inside City Conference Room 1AB at White Auditorium.
