Two Emporia State track and field athletes have been named MIAA athletes of the week.
Jazmin Williams is the womens field athlete of the week.
Williams scored 20 points to help lead the Hornets to the team title at the Shocker Prelude in Wichita, Kansas. She won the women’s long jump with a leap of 18-3.75 (5.58m) and was a member of the 4x400m relay team that ran 4:06.61 to capture first place. Williams also finished second with a time of 26.63 in the 200m.
Brandon Rhone is the mens track athlete of the week.
Rhone had a part of two event championships to help lead Emporia State to the team title at the Shocker Prelude in Wichita, Kansas. He won the 400m in a time of 49.46 and led off the 4x400m relay to win in a time of 3:19.59.
