Slick conditions became more isolated as Wednesday morning developed, but they did cause some travel issues after sunrise.
Crashes with reports of injuries were noted on the Kansas Turnpike, with one 17 miles southwest of the Emporia tollgate shortly before 7:45 am and another three miles southwest of the Admire-Council Grove-Osage City gate an hour later. Thankfully, nobody was hospitalized after either wreck.
Travel was slick and slushy for much of the pre-dawn time period as light snow fell. Ran began overtaking the snowfall shortly after 5 am, melting the light snow that accumulated on streets and grassy surfaces. The KVOE studios received about 0.30 inches of total accumulation. Other reports:
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.18 inches liquid accumulation
*Allen: 2 inches total accumulation
*Lake Kahola: 1 inch total accumulation
