The Emporia High boys basketball team opened play in the Ralph Miller Classic in Chanute Thursday afternoon with a 63-44 win over Olathe North.
The Spartans led by 1 after the first quarter. They built it up to a 30-23 lead by halftime. In the 3rd quarter they led by as many as 15 and went on to the 19 point win.
Coach Beau Welch was pleased with the win.
Skylar Douglas was the leading scorer with a season high 22 points. Charles Snyder added 21 points.
The Spartans will play Andover Central at 8pm in the Championship semi-finals Friday.
Andover Central defeated Chanute 82-69.
In the other first round games Soldan, out of St. Louis, out scored Goddard 65-44.
Shawnee Mission South was a 62-28 winner over Wichita Defenders.
