The Emporia High boys basketball team will play for 3rd place in the Ralph Miller Classic after losing a close game 52-50 to Andover Central in the semi-finals.
Emporia High held the early lead 12-10 after the first quarter. The Spartans trailed at halftime 28-22. Andover Central would hold a 5 point lead going to the 4th quarter. The Spartans had the lead cut to 2 but could never take the lead.
Coach Beau Welch said the inability to rebound cost them.
Charles Snyder scored the first 12 points for Emporia High and finished with 22 points. Connor Hoyt finished with 10 points. The Spartans will face Soldan out of St. Louis in the 3rd place game. Tip-off Saturday afternoon is set for 5:15p. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM. Coverage begins at 5pm or following KU basketball.
