Over a week after two people were killed in a mobile home fire just west of Emporia, the investigation continues in the case.
The fire at Green Acres Mobile Home Park, 1753 Road E Lot 237, developed early Jan. 16 and then rekindled later in the day. The victims, currently unnamed, were found inside as firefighters from Emporia and Olpe battled the initial fire.
Lyon County deputies, Emporia Fire and the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office have been involved in the investigation. The cause and origination point of the first fire have not been announced. The rekindle started in an empty space near the roof.
