Olpe and Lebo would each walk away with a victory on the Area Game of the Week Thursday night.
The Olpe Lady Eagles would dominate the Lady Wolves through all four quarters en route to a 67-26 victory.
Olpe would manage to outscore the Lady Wolves in every quarter including holding Lebo to just five points in the first and shutting them out entirely in the third quarter. All five Olpe starters ended the night in double digits and were led by junior Macy Smith with 17 points.
Head Coach Jesse Nelson says he got an all-around solid effort out of his team.
Lebo was led in scoring by senior Adelyn Tackitt with eight points. With the win, Ople now improves to 12-0 on the season as Lebo falls to 8-3.
In the boy’s game, Lebo would manage to overcome an Olpe lead late in the fourth to pick up a 41-34 victory over the Eagles.
Both teams would control the lead through the first quarter before a last-second three-pointer by Olpe junior Jordan Barnard would give the Eagles a lead they would not relinquish until the second half. In the second half, both teams would trade the lead five times before Lebo would retake and never give up the lead with 2 minutes left in the fourth thanks in part to junior Devan McEwen who had all nine of his points for the evening come in the fourth.
Head coach Duane Paul says it was a knockdown drag-out game.
Lebo was led by freshman Landon Grimment and McEwen who both ended the night with nine points. Olpe had two players finish in double digits as Barnard ended the night with 13 points and sophomore Derek Hoelting finished with 10.
With the win, Lebo clinches the second seed in the Lyon County League tournament as Olpe claims the three seed.
