Tom Thompson has led Lyon County State Bank as president for nearly four decades straight. Now he’s looking ahead to retirement, and the bank has announced Executive Vice President Brad Yount will take over that position.
Thompson tells KVOE News he’s pleased with the bank’s direction — saying it’s never been in a better position — and he says Yount is an ideal candidate to lead Lyon County State Bank.
Yount, meanwhile, is in his second stint at Lyon County State Bank, having worked in management and mortgage lending from 1989 to 1997 and rejoining the bank in 2018 as an executive vice president after working in banking mostly in and around Denver, Colorado. He says the bank’s commitment to its customers has never wavered, even with a raft of changes to the industry like regulations and non-banking entities like insurance companies getting into the field.
Yount anticipates no major changes in bank operations. He says LCSB will increase its presence in the area with more emphasis on its current series of seminars and other methods of community involvement. He also expects the bank to expand its role with small and mid-sized businesses with its status as a Small Business Administration preferred lender.
Thompson remains as the bank’s chief executive officer and chair of the board of directors.
