Flint Hills Community Health Center is starting 2020 in the black for the first time in 18 years.
FHCHC Chief Financial Officer Stephanie Ringgold made the announcement during the board of directors meeting Tuesday stating the health center ended 2019 with a year-end net gain of just over $200,000. Ringgold says this is a direct result of the center’s turnaround plan which expires in August and their zero-based budget approach.
Once the turnaround plan ends the health center will then transition into their new strategic plan to build off the financial success of last year. Ringgold did state these numbers were just preliminary totals and will not be final until the health center’s audit which will be completed by the second week in April.
Additionally, Ringgold reports the center saw a net gain for the month of December of approximately $10,000. Revenues came in 1.74 percent under budget and days cash on hand decreased slightly to 57 days for the month.
Health Center CEO Renee Hively piggybacked off of the good news from Ringgold by announcing the health center had reached an agreement with a new Medical Clinic Director.
Dr. Cook will be replacing Dr. James Fast who retired from the position in Dec. Hively says Cook is expected to begin her full-time duties in the next 90 days as she leaves her current practice with urgent care in Wamego to return to Emporia where she held a previous practice years ago.
In other business board members approved the monthly clinical and CQI reports as well as the new shelter in place and evacuation policies for the center. The Board of Directors will have their next monthly meeting on Feb. 25 inside the Havenhill Conference Room.
