Members of Emporia State Federal Credit Union have gone the extra mile to help benefit the work of two local organizations helping combat hunger.
Emporia State Federal Credit Union was proud to make a donation to both the Abundant Harvest Food Kitchen and Emporia State University’s Corky’s Cupboard with both organizations receiving $930 as a result of the Credit Union’s Skip-a-Payment program. The program allows members who have a consumer loan with the credit union to voluntarily pay $15 and skip a payment in November and December with all of the $15 payments being placed into a pool which is then donated evenly amongst local charitable organizations.
Miller says for the past three to four years, ESFCU has selected the Abundant Harvest Food Kitchen and Corky’s Cupboard as recipients of these funds due to their work to combat hunger in the local community.
Abundant Harvest Director Lee Alderman says the donation comes at the perfect time.
This is the ninth year of the Credit Union’s Skip-a-Payment program. Past recipients include The Salvation Army and the Kansas Children’s Service League-Healthy Families.
