Emporia State University President Allison Garrett has leadership roles on two significant NCAA Division II committees.
Garrett was elected as the President’s Council’s vice chair at the NCAA’s annual meeting this month. Garrett has been a council member since 2017. She was also elected as chair of the D-II Planning and Finance Committee.
The council is the division’s highest governing body and sets strategic direction for every aspect of division operations, including finances and championship administration.
NCAA Division II includes more than 300 colleges and universities. ESU has 15 sports with 10 competing in NCAA national championships during Garett’s tenure as President.
Garrett becomes the second ESU president to serve on the council. She follows Kay Schallenkamp, who served as chair from 2003 to 2004 as part of her overall tenure as ESU president from 1997 to 2006.
