A dumpster caught fire at a residence near Emporia’s Bunge crush facility Friday afternoon.
Emporia Fire was called to 515 East around 3 pm. Battalion Chief Ryan Conley says the dumpster was fully involved in flames when they arrived a few minutes later, and the fire was high enough that firefighters had to remove a small part of the house’s siding near the eaves to make sure the blaze had not gotten into the home.
No injuries were reported. Conley says the cause was apparently accidental, with the dumpster damage limited to the trash inside.
