The Emporia State baseball team opens their season with a 6-0 win over Pittsburg State Friday.
Blake Carrolls 3 run homerun in the 2nd inning was the big hit.
A sacrifice fly in the 4th drove in a run. The Hornets added 2 runs in the 6th on a bases loaded hit by pitch and a bases loaded walk.
Jake Barton was the winning pitcher going 5 innings giving up 1 hit with 9 stirkeouts.
Jarrett Seaton earned the save going 4 innigns giving up no hits with 3 strikeouts.
Saturday the Hornets play Southwestern Oklahoma State.
Jared Kengott will be the starting pitcher in Saturdays game.
The Hornets will also play Henderson State Sunday.
