The Emporia State womens basketball team held on for a 67-58 win over Lincoln.
The Lady Hornets never trailed but could never put the game out of reach. Coach Toby Wynn said they survived.
Tre’Zure Jobe led the Lady Hornets with a game high 24 points, making 11 of 12 free-throws.
Mollie Mounsey finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Fredricka Sheats added 11 points and Morgan Laudan scored 10 points.
The Lady Hornets are now 15-5 for the season and 8-3 in the MIAA.
The Emporia State men trailed most of the game and would never catch up in a 85-70 loss at Lincoln. In the first 5 minutes the Hornets held a 2-0 lead and there were 3 ties. Lincoln would build a 17 point lead before halftime and trailed the rest of the game. Coach Craig Doty said there were stretches they played well.
Jumah’Ri Turner scored a game high 25 points to lead the Hornets in scoring. Justin Williams added 13 points. The Emporia State men are now 10-10 for the season and 4-7 in the MIAA.
The Emporia State women and men host Pittsburg State Wednesday.
