Those street signs made famous locally after the addition of a certain shirt for Super Bowl weekend? Well, the signs are now gone.
Over the weekend, somebody draped a Kansas City Chiefs sweatshirt on the street signs at 15th and Patrick in homage to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. By early afternoon Monday, the street signs had been cut off and removed.
Emporia Police Sgt. Lisa Sage says there is an active investigation underway and implores residents to help “return 15th and Patrick to where he belongs, go Chiefs.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Emporia Police at 343-4200 or Lyon County Crime Stoppers 342-2273. Word on when the street signs will be replaced is pending.
