Local Kansas City Chiefs fans are getting back into their normal routine — and still jubilant after the Chiefs’ 31-20 win over San Francisco in Super Bowl 54 on Sunday night.
That includes the thousands of fans who were glued to TV screens or smartphones back home, and it includes the select few who got to see the game in person. On that list was Mayor Jon Geitz, who got to see the game with his son — thanks to his wife, Ali. They were positioned in enemy territory.
Dr. Tim Harris also brought his children to the Super Bowl. He says they still can’t believe the Chiefs won.
A season ticketholder at Arrowhead Stadium the last 29 years, Harris was glad to fulfill a lifelong promise to his kids after the Chiefs won the AFC Championship game two weeks earlier. Harris was impressed by the overall experience, both during and before the game with the number of pregame activities and parties.
Geitz and his son sat in the 49ers end zone through the game. Geitz says the 49ers fans were “really stoked” up until the midway point of the fourth quarter, when the Chiefs scored the first of their three touchdowns to wipe out a 10-point deficit.
