Street signs stolen after Super Bowl Weekend have been found and returned to the city.
Police Sgt. Lisa Sage says Jeremiah and Kelly Weatherhead of Americus were driving home Tuesday night and spotted the 15th and Patrick signs in an unspecified ditch. The Weatherheads called Emporia Police and made arrangements to bring in the signs.
The signs gained notoriety after somebody draped a Kansas City Chiefs sweatshirt on the signs over the weekend in honor of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The street signs were cut off and removed by Monday afternoon.
Public Works has not said when it plans to reinstall the signs. There is currently no word on suspect information.
