Family Promise of the Flint Hills has a special Concert of Prayer this weekend.
The concert is from 6-7 pm at First United Methodist Church, and the public is encouraged to take part. The concert is designed to offer comfort and guidance to homeless residents and those that serve the homeless. Spokesperson Bev Long says there are a lot of misconceptions about homelessness.
Family Promise is in the process of lining up partner churches to offer up to 120 days of free lodging and food to homeless residents as they secure jobs, medical care, disability services or mental wellness connections. Once they have jobs, Family Promise then offers help finding affordable housing, budgets and long-term planning. Long says Family Promise needs two more churches to launch local efforts.
