The Emporia State womens basketball team held off Missouri Southern for a 71-63 win Saturday.
The Lady Hornets out scored Southern 26-17 in the 4th quarter to seal the win. Southern out scored Emporia State 21-10 in the third quarter to erase a 35-25 halftime deficit. Coach Toby Wynn said they were able to overcome their offensive struggles.
Tre’Zure Jobe scored a game high 22 points, making 10 of 10 free-throws. Grace Gordon scored 13 points and Morgan Laudan added 11 points. The Lady Hornets improve to 17-5 for the season and 10-3 in the MIAA.
Missouri Southern won the mens game 71-58. The game featured 9 ties and 9 lead changes. Emporia States biggest lead as by 7 points in the first half. Southern would lead by 13 points in the 2nd half. Coach Craig Doty was pleased with the teams effort.
Zac Owens was the lone Hornet to score in double figures finishing with 18 points. The Emporia State men are now 10-12 for the season and 4-9 in the MIAA.
Emporia State plays at Rogers State this coming Thursday.
