Emporia State University has announced plans for its 157th Founders Day later this month.
The celebration will be Feb. 21 at the Memorial Union Webb Hall. The program includes a buffet lunch. It also involves awards to the annual 1863 Scholarship essay winners; recognition of the Kellogg Society, which supports ESU through planned gifts; special recognition of Alan and Margene Schwartz after their planned gift for faculty development; and special recognition of Ray Grieshaber for establishing the Albert and Louise Grieshaber Endowed Scholarship for undergraduate students.
Tickets are $6 and are mandatory for the luncheon. Those are available by calling Fionna Lee at 341-6466 or by emailing fcolpan@emporia.edu.
Emporia State had its first day of classes Feb. 15, 1865, with 18 teacher education students. It now serves nearly 6,000 students.
