A meal and a concert raised funds for two of Emporia’s veterans posts Saturday night.
The American Legion Auxiliary organized a fundraising spaghetti supper. The meal was linked to a fundraising concert by The Barbees for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1980. Totals are pending.
The VFW continues to make fundraising strides after four years’ worth of employee taxes weren’t sent to the Internal Revenue Service as mandated. Post Commander Michael White, who will join KVOE’s Morning Show on Thursday, has said the post has cleared the tentative initial debt to the federal government and is now amassing funds to pay for roughly $50,000 in building repairs and utility upgrades.
