Will it cost you more to get caught while texting and driving? Possibly so.
Kansas lawmakers are discussing whether to increase most fines for texting while behind the wheel and even restrict the holding of cell phones when driving. Currently, fines are $60 per offense. Senate Bill 441 would increase the second-offense fine to $120, with third and additional offenses costing $250 each.
The bill would also prohibit drivers from holding or supporting a cell phone with any part of their bodies unless for emergencies.
