Plumb Place is using food as a fundraiser for the second time in a month.
Plumb Place is holding a taco feed on Saturday featuring Director Mary Richardson’s recipe.
The feed will be from 11 am to 2 pm Saturday at the Lee Beran Recreation Center, 313 West Fourth. Cost is $2 each, $10 for a half-dozen or $20 for a dozen, with that cost including tomatoes, cheese, sour cream and salsa. Tacos can also be purchased fried or unfried.
This follows the “It’s Plumb Cold” chili feed that generated almost $600 last month for the agency, which helps women in crisis situations through transitional housing and its new Vision 2020 program involving wellness in employment, education, mental health, physical health and life skills.
Proceeds help Plumb Place clear longstanding, “high-end” contracts from years past and also help the agency get back on solid financial footing. Plumb Place had a stated loss of over $50,000 from 2014 to 2017 that remains under investigation by Emporia Police. Fundraisers the last few months of 2019 cleared $15,000 in general operations expenses and also provided over $9,000 against the contracts.
