For the first time in three months, the KVOE listening area is completely clear of any drought-related designation.
Chase County was removed from the abnormally dry designation in the latest Drought Monitor report Thursday. Chase County had been abnormally dry since late November.
Numerous winter storms have affected Lyon and surrounding counties. All told, the storms haven’t brought much in the way of snow or wintry precipitation, but they have served to recharge the soil moisture percentiles to 90 percent or above, according to the National Weather Service. Moderate rainfall is expected Sunday, with chances of additional rain and snow Monday and Tuesday.
