Happy Birthday Emporia State University! Friday is the 157th Founders Day celebration for ESU.
The university has seen amazing growth the past few years, and President Allison Garrett gave several examples during an interview with KVOE News after the event.
The celebration was held in Webb Hall, with a luncheon and announcement of the winners of the Annual 1863 essay writing contest. The contest asked students “How has Emporia State University changed your life?” and was judged by Roe R. Cross Distinguished Professors from across the campus. The winner of the $1000 scholarship was Jack Jewitt, and the winner of the $863 scholarship was Gaby Amparan.
Also included was the recognition of Ray Grieshaber for establishing the Albert F. Greishaber & Louise Greishaber Endowed Scholarship for undergraduates. The program also gave recognition to Alan and Margene Swarts who are donating their estate to ESU to help faculty development.
