The Emporia State softball team was 1-1 on day one of the 5 State Classic.
They were shutout by Maryville 2-0 in their first game.
They would out scored Minnesota Duluth 7-6 in 8 innings to win their second game.
Cassidy Beem drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly.
Coach April Rosales was encouraged by the day.
Emporia State is scheduled to play Sioux Falls Saturday at 5pm.
