A Strong City man faces several counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty after several horses either died or needed emergency shelter recently.
Chase County Sheriff Richard Dorneker says deputies received a call late last month about animal conditions at a rural Strong City residence. Deputies found what Dorneker called inadequate food and water for the horses. He also says three were dead, one had to be put down and two others needed emergency housing.
Steven D Price, 48, has now been charged with six counts of misdemeanor cruelty in the case of the horses and one relating to a dog on the property. Price was also charged with one count of interference with law enforcement.
Price will have an arraignment hearing March 27.
