The Flint Hills Community Health Center Board of Directors approved two policy’s during their monthly meeting Tuesday all for the benefit of FHCHC staff.
Approval was first given to a new shared leave policy which allows employees to transfer leave time to fellow employees in the event of a medical emergency. FHCHC Risk Manager Neil Dean says the new policy is not for everyday illnesses or needed absences but only severe medical emergencies such as a cancer diagnosis.
Dean says employees will submit a request to utilize time from the pool with a decision being made by a designated committee of FHCHC employees. Administrators will not have a hand in the decision making process.
Additionally, the board approved a $20 upgrade to the health center’s gym reimbursement policy which encourages employees to remain healthy and active. According to Dean, if employees make 12 visits to the gym per month they become eligible to receive $20 of reimbursement towards their gym membership amongst other benefits.
The previous reimbursement amount was $10 according to health center CEO Renee Hively.
In other business, board members received the traditional slew of regular reports beginning with the financial report for January. According to the report, January saw the health center continue its positive financial trends with a net gain of $172,000. Revenues were also 18 percent above budget while expenses came in 4.7 percent below budget.
The monthly clinical and CQI reports were also presented and one executive session also took place. The FHCHC Board will next hold their annual meeting and regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Mar. 24 at noon inside the Havenhill conference room.
