The Emporia High basketball teams closed out the regular season with wins at Junction City Friday night.
The Emporia High girls out scored Junction City 42-28. Emporia High Coach Carolyn Dorsey called it great effort.
Macey Adams scored a game high 19 points to lead the offense. The Lady Spartans jumped out to a 10-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. They led 24-12 at halftime. Junction City cut the lead to 27-22 going to the 4th quarter. Emporia High out scored Junction City 15-6 in the final 8 minutes. The finish the regular season with a 9-11 record.
The Emporia High boys defeated Junction City 61-49. Emporia High Coach Beau Welch said the defensive effort won this game.
Skyler Douglas lit up the scoreboard scoring a season high 26 points. Beau Baumgardner added 12 points. The Spartans led by 8 after the first quarter. They built that to a 12 point lead by halftime and led by 15 going to the 4th quarter. The Spartans finished the regular season with a 11-9 record, winning their last 3 games and 4 of their last 5.
The Emporia High girls and boys will receive their sub-state assignments Saturday morning.
